Snowsports Instructor -This is two words, and it helps if your passionate about both of them. Really liking just one of those words means you only get 50% out of what you are doing
So you love skiing, or riding, (or both!) and you get a kick out of helping others enjoy it too. You are halfway there! Sharing in another’s sense of accomplishment is a powerful experience and one that as an instructor you will be rewarded with everyday.
The key to good instruction is connection
It takes less than you think to get started. You do need to be comfortable in front of a group (we can work with age preferences here) and able to ski or snowboard, but only to a low intermediate level. Think confident on groomed blue runs.
The material is not hard, the challenge is in figuring out how best to deliver it. We look for people who can connect with their students and genuinely care about creating a great experience for them. Yes, energy and confidence help, but the best teachers know how to listen and observe as well as they talk. Oh, and be professional. Be on time, look sharp, honor your commitments and remember that the needs of the guest come first.

The concept of instructing appeals to a lot of people, it is after all one of the coolest jobs out there. Now you know you can do it, the biggest questions probably revolve around the time commitment and what it entails. There are 3 basic statuses and the greater the commitment, the greater the compensation and employee package.
Full Time

Definition
Full Timers commit to being available 5 days per week and 6 days a week during holiday weeks (3-weeks in the season). As stated above, no prior snowsports teaching experience is necessary to apply. All training is provided.

Commitment & Schedule
Full Timers must be available every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, or the vast majority of those days, with 2 days off given between Monday and Thursday.
They are generally expected to be available from mid-November for training days and orientation, but will not begin working full time until the resort is fully open. This is typically right around or just after Thanksgiving. As a result we can be flexible with start dates. Full Timers are expected to work through the end of the season, usually mid-April.
Full Timers will be scheduled to begin work between 7:30am-9:30am (day shift) or 1:00pm – 3:30pm (night shift) depending on the day, and will be scheduled for shifts of between 6-8 hours each day they work.
We schedule based on expected lesson volume, which means we sometimes have more staff than classes and not everyone will end up working a full shift each day. To help plan for this uncertainty, we offer a Full Timer Incentive, December through March, which protects the earning opportunities of full timers to ensure they have access to ~28 hours work per week as a minimum. Pay
Pay starts at $20.00/hour as a base rate.

Definition
For instructors, the “Part Time 50” status is only available to certified instructors. For new, uncertified Part Time 50 applicants who are interested in becoming an instructor, we offer support roles. This may mean assisting instructors with lessons and classes, setting up teaching areas, greeting guests, running a conveyor lift or perform general labor, snow removal and maintenance tasks.
We have a number of support roles to offer depending on your interests and goals such as Conveyor Lift Operators, or Support Staff. These jobs all provide access to instructor and certification training for those who want to spend the season gaining the necessary skills and experience to become an instructor in the future.
As stated above, no prior experience is necessary to apply. All training is provided.
