Training Team

At Stevens Pass Ski and Snowboard School we are dedicated to delivering a great experience for our customers, but also for our employees. The impact of our Trainers, their expertise in helping shape our operations, and their desire to help others grow and develop professionally is a major part of creating this experience.

We hire a select number of both Full and Part Time Trainers who will make up our team and who will be primarily responsible for evaluating and improving the entire on-snow guest experience.

A Trainers work day is always variable and could include any of the following:

  • Teach lessons, observe classes, and be shadowed by instructors
  • Work together to determine and improve our terrain flow and usage
  • Deliver training clinics to new and experienced instructors on a variety of topics
  • Provide support and mentor instructors
  • Act as role-models on and off snow
  • Provide feedback to supervisors as it pertains to instructor progress and assignments
  • Post-up in specific locations along our terrain based progression, to assist instructors, aid in student progress and provide tips to the general public

A Trainers work priority is to focus on the staff and, due to their operational importance, training assignments will take priority over all other assignments including private requests.

Qualifications and Pay

We will only have a few Trainer positions available and while certification will guide much of the selection process, we know that the best are not always the most certified. We will hire a variety of trainers to cover the diverse nature of the lesson programs we offer and will be looking for people with extensive experience and specialized skills or areas of expertise (such as teaching kids) that are not exclusive to being fully certified.

For the Trainer positions, we will consider applications from any instructors certified Level 2 or higher, or Level 1 with a Children’s Specialist accreditation. Trainers will receive their standard base rate for teaching assignments, plus an additional $0.50/hour when leading clinics.

Full-Time Trainers are also eligible for the Full Timer Incentive. The full pay scale and breakdown of these incentives can be found here

Schedules

If you are interested in being a part of the Training Team but can only work a small portion of the season (for example the Christmas Holidays or a selection of early season dates) then please continue to apply – regardless of whether you meet our minimum schedule requirements, our goal will be to ensure that the Team can cover the operational demands and is present enough to remain connected and on the same page. There will however be a role for trainers who can supplement our training as clinic leaders or offer a valuable outside perspective.

We will require that trainers can commit to some yet to be determined pre-season dates for Training Team meetings, to ensure all trainers are on the same page prior to the season. Typically these meetings are held in late Fall with instructor training sessions held throughout November-December.
