Employee Onboarding

Welcome to the Ski and Snowboard School Employee Onboarding page!  Here you will find important information about your first days at Stevens Pass.

1. Explore the Tasks and know the pertinent information regarding necessary documents, equipment, and procedures for each task prior to visiting the resort.

2. Submit your Schedule via the schedule submission form if you haven’t already done so. Your next steps are dependent upon the training days you select.

3. Complete Indoor and On-snow Training at the resort. You will select these dates when you submit your schedule. All staff will need to complete 1 day of indoor training. New staff will be required to complete 2 days of on-snow training; returning staff will be required to complete 1 day.

4. Complete Online Training through “the LIFT” under the “My Learning” tab on the EpicEmployee platform. All employees will be assigned this training and it must be completed prior to on-snow training. More information can be found in the tab below. 

Please make sure you send us your hours for LIFT training; this time is not automatically paid.

5. Report for Work according to the schedule you submitted. All schedules will be uploaded into the schedule portal Instructor.snow.com. You will be able to view your lesson assignment and pertinent information such as lineup time and program.

We will send further directions regarding how to access and how to read closer to the start of the season.

PRE – ONBOARDING TASKS

Background Check

Employees will receive a welcome email (from PeopleConnect@vailresorts.com) with email prompts to complete their background checks once they sign their offer letter or, a SIS onboarding event is generated.

SIS Employees will receive two emails, the first will contain a link to EpicEmployee with instructions for how to login. The Second email provides the auto-generated password.

Submit Personal Information

  • Update personal information
  • Submit Legion Schedule availability: This step should be skipped. We do not leverage Legion for scheduling and skipping will not restrict your ability to move through onboarding.

 

 

ONBOARDING TASKS

I-9 (New Employees Only)

All newly hired employees will be required to complete their I-9 Verification through Equifax before starting any work activities.

Returning, SIS, employees do not need to complete an I9.

IMPORTANT: Form I-9 can only be completed on non-holiday weekdays between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM CT, Monday through Friday. Please ensure that you have all documents prior to beginning your form I-9. Section 1 MUST be completed on or before your first day of work.

Season Pass

Before activating and/or picking up your season pass, ensure that you have signed your online Ski/Activity waiver.

For new employees and those with dependents, ensure that you have uploaded all necessary I-9 and dependent verification documents in Direct Connect in the EpicEmployee portal.*In some cases it may take 24 hours or longer for uploaded documents to process through the system.

You will have the opportunity to complete this task on your training day.

Verify Your Certification

Instructors with certification will need to verify their status is active.  Please bring a copy of your membership card to your onboarding day if you haven’t already verified with us via the schedule form.

 

Uniform Pick Up

Uniforms will be distributed on your indoor training date.  All instructors will need a uniform before the first on-snow training day.

 

 

Lockers

**Lockers will be assigned on your first day of work or on-snow training.

All Full-Time staff will be assigned a full-size locker and Part-Time staff will be assigned a half-size locker.

All staff can keep their skis and snowboards in the gear closet.  How many pieces of gear you can store is based on your position and how many disciplines you teach.

FT staff can have 2 sets of gear, if you are a dual instructor you can have 3 sets of gear.

PT staff can have 1 set of gear, if you are a dual instructor you can have 2 sets of gear.

Location: SSBS Locker Room (Ski & Snowboard School Building – entrance facing the Daisy Chairlift)

Gear Inspection

All employees who ski or ride for their job will be required to have their skis and snowboards inspected by the repair shop.  All instructors are able to test 2 sets of equipment, dual discipline instructors may have 3. *Skiers must present both boots and skis to be tested. *Snowboarders do not need to present their equipment but must sign a form attesting to the board, binding, and boots condition.

You will have the opportunity to take care of this during your indoor training day. Otherwise, the rental shop will be open pre-season for you to drop off your gear.

Online - LIFT Training

All employees will be assigned virtual training in the LIFT platform. 

Courses will be automatically assigned and are available to view in your learning plan on the ME tab.

Staff should expect to complete the following courses in the first two weeks:

  • New Employee Orientation (30 minutes) – New hires only
  • New Employee Safety Orientation (10 minutes) – New hires only
  • Slope Safety (7 minutes) – All Staff
  • DEI Fundamentals (15 minutes)*
  • Getting Started with Guest Service (15 minutes)*
  • Expanding your Service Impact (15 mins)*
  • Active Threat (10 mins)*
  • Wage and Hour (30-45 mins) – All Staff

*Are assigned only once. Employees who completed previously will not be assigned again.
